KFC Russia – Brand Relaunch
We guided the Russian market in the process of a complete brand overhaul to become more in-line with the global KFC brand.
KFC Russia looked like this:
Our design studio brought the global brand identity into all the brand touch points.
To launch the Colonel — a fairly unknown character in the market at the time – to the Russian audience we created a catchy song ´Chicken is crunch, Chicken is taste´.
We also did a few fun 5″s like this one
We gave Colonel Sanders a bit of Russian back story.
We shot some hilarious stills for OOH with the awesome Robbie Augspurger.
Russians started stealing Colonel Sanders cut-outs from the stores and showing him around the city.
The production was quite fun and demanding. All the filming and post work was done in Moscow with Russian partners, so we spent a good chunk of that year traveling between Amsterdam and Moscow.
As a summer extension of the campaign we shot these couple of films showcasing the summer products in the same setup.
After introducing Colonel Sanders to the Russian audience, we went on a production marathon coming up with quick & low cost films to keep pumping content throughout the year. For example this collaboration between KFC and Russias food delivery service.
For ‘Mad Wednesdays’, which had a different offer every Wednesday, we created a flexible visual device they could keep updating themselves.
We spent a whole year doing all sorts of other stuff for KFC Russia.
It was a challenging but fun project were we got the chance to do some fun work and collaborate with awesome people like Jeffrey Max from Fatal Farm or Robbie Augspurger.
Unfortunately, KFC Russia disappeared recently and was rebranded to local chain ‘Rostic’s’.
One of the highlights of the project was to visit the Red Square and the city of Moscow.
But definitely having a heart warming dinner at Cafe Pushkin at 3 am after a long shoot day was my favorite thing.
I worked on this project as an Art Director at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam with Dasha Ovechkina as Copywriter and Cal Al-Jorani & Thierry Albert as Creative Directors.
